Dezincification
Refinishing ProcessOur refinishing process involves stripping off old lacquer, dipping in a brass cleaning chemical, buffing to a high luster, degrease cleaning and coating with epoxy and baking in an oven at 300 degrees for 1 hour. Please Note: It is very important to coat Brass Communionware with our oven baked epoxy. Grape juices and wines are very acidic. Lacquers are not durable enough to protect the base metal from these harsh chemicals. Also, our epoxy coating can be washed in soapy dishwater and rinsed in hot water and dried with a dish towel with no harm to the finish. Replating ProcessOur replating process requires stripping off old plating, dipping in a brass cleaning chemical, buffing to a high luster, degrease cleaning and electrolysis bonding your choice of metal to the item. No protective material can be put on silver to prevent tarnishing. Easy care and handlingAfter our refinishing process, clean with Pledge furniture polish. It is extremely difficult to put a "time" guarantee on our finish. A cross should last 40-50 years or longer with no change to the finish. Vases, collection plates and items that are handled frequently have a shorter longevity. Handling altarware with care will assure a long-lasting finish. We coat all brass items with an oven-baked epoxy coating, the most durable finish available. This finish can be handled without the use of gloves. Handling with bare hands will not harm the finish. | ||
